Shrewsbury Big Town Plan Partnership
The Shrewsbury Big Town Plan (SBTP) partnership are leading this project and engagement activity. A key goal of the SBTP is that we want to raise the quality of design across the town, ultimately we want to develop what we will call “The Shrewsbury Test” to raise standards for all new development. Piloting the use of Design Codes in these areas of town are a great tool to start delivering on this goal, and if successful can be expanded to cover all of the town centre and out into our suburbs.
Shropshire Council bid for the funding for this project from Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) on behalf of the partnership and are 1 of 25 Local Authorities taking part in the Design Code Pathfinder project.
Shrewsbury Town Council are also a member of the partnership and jointly undertaking this engagement activity. They want their residents to get involved to shape these areas of town.
The third partner is Shrewsbury BID who want to get feedback from businesses, visitors and customers to ensure these areas work well for the businesses they represent.
LDA Design have responsibility for analysing, interpreting and activating the feedback from this survey into the design codes. They are our consultants for this project and responsible for creating the codes on behalf of the Partnership.
